The New York Jets have picked a fantastic time to completely fall apart.
After they won the Super Bowl in week two, the Jets were able to win their next game against the hapless Tennessee Titans, but followed that up with losses in five of their next six games. Their only AFC East win this season was their Super Bowl victory over the Patriots in week two.
Coming into this week's game against the Patriots, Rex Ryan decided to try motivating his troops by acting like a 40 year old woman who just finished watching Beaches. Hey, you'd cry too if your vaunted defense just blew another late game lead, this time against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Darrelle Revis, the Jets' best cornerback, is more interested in convincing everyone that he single handedly took Randy Moss out of the game in week two than he is in the Jets, this weeks game against the Patriots, or anything else (apparently).
Did he have safety help over the top most of the night? Probably. Did he win some individual battles against Randy Moss? Definitely. Did he have a better game than Randy Moss? Absolutely.
Does any of that matter?
Seriously?
Dear Mr. Revis: You're a cornerback on a pathetic, 4-5 football team. Maybe you should worry about why your defense has collapsed against some of the worst offenses in the NFL instead of worrying about whether people believe you can or did cover Randy Moss one-on-one.
Yup, the Patriots are running into the Jets at the perfect time.
Already motivated after their week two loss, the Patriots are extra grizzly after their inexplicable loss to the Colts last week. The defense is angry. The offense is ticked off. Tom Brady seems like a different guy. Even the great Bill Belichick has been under some heat this week.
The last time the Patriots were embarrassed late in a big game against the Colts, the entire NFL paid for it. Remember the running up the score thing? That happened because of the Colts. The first team to feel the Patriots' wrath in 2007?
The New York Jets.
It's amazing how often history repeats itself.
I would NOT want to be the New York Jets tomorrow.
The Patriots know they need to get well, and who better to do it against than the obviously sick New York Jets.

Comments
I wouldn't say they are a pathetic 4-5 team. They have a rookie QB who has already shown potential and a good defense. They are a young team with a bright future.
Nevertheless, this game was a lock this week. The Pats are better than the Jets, coming off a tough loss, and can add a trumped-up persecution complex like was done after Spygate, when y'all took out your mistakes on the rest of the league. There was no way the Jets were even going to be in this game, and considering what they were up against they fought hard.
