Rasheed Wallace headed to Celtics

Rasheed Wallace, NBA

Rasheed Wallace is headed to the Boston Celtics after being heavily recruited by Boston's Big 3--Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce.

Wallace will sign a two-year deal using the mid-level exception of $5.6 million in 2009/2010 and $5.8 million in 2010/2011.

This is an excellent pick-up for the C's. Wallace is a veteran forward who can score from the post or the perimeter. Sheed is also an underrated defensive presence.

"He makes us better on both ends of the floor," Ray Allen said.

With Kevin Garnett coming off of knee surgery, Wallace will take some pressure off of KG in the long 82 game season. Rasheed will be the ultimate 6th man for the team in green.

"Once Wallace had a chance to reflect on everything, and realizing what his objectives are, he just decided this was the best fit for him, all the way around," said Bill Strickland, Wallace's agent.

The Celtics have the bi-annual exception of $1.9 million dollars available and are very interested in Suns forward Grant Hill. That price tag may be too low for Hill, but the chance to play alongside four future Hall-of-Famer may entice Hill to take the pay cut.
