In the third quarter of Saturday night's 129-122 victory over Sacramento Michael Redd landed badly on teammate Luke Ridnour's foot. Redd had an MRI exam on Sunday that revealed the extent of the injury. Redd will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL).
"I'm deeply disappointed but everything in life happens for a reason and this is God's plan for me," said Redd. "I have faith in my teammates and coaches to continue to work together to make our fans proud. I will be supporting them wholeheartedly from the sidelines and working equally hard to return to the court in the best condition possible for next season.
This really hurts a Bucks team that has shown signs of turning the corner. Under Head Coach Scott Skiles the Bucks are third in the Central Division with a record of 22-25. The team has been plagued with injuries all season yet continues to battle. Over half our games have been without two of our main players," coach Skiles said. "Our guys are hanging in there. It's not always pretty every night, but we're hanging in there."
Look for the Bucks to be active before the trading deadline to replace Redd. Bucks General Manager Tom Hammond said, "We're extremely disappointed for Michael. He was having a good season and he's a guy that's such a big part of what we do." We were going to be active in the process before this happened, and we are going to make the right decision for the future of the franchise. There's no reaction because of this. We're going to stay firm with our approach of improving the team.", said Hammond.
In 33 games this season Redd averaged a team-high 21.2 points with 3.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal in 36.5 minutes. Redd was likely headed to the 2009 NBA All-Star Game.

Big time bummer. I love watching Michael Redd play, such a pure shooter. For Milwaukee, they at least faired okay during the stretch of games he missed earlier this season, so we'll see what becomes of them.
