NBA
The first returns from NBA All-Star voting are in and something is wrong.
In the Eastern Conference the league MVP LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers got 649,327 votes. Joining James is Kevin Garnett of the Celtics with 533,187 votes, Dwyane Wade of the Heat with 672,227 votes, Vince Carter of the Magic with 292,002 votes, and Carter's Magic teammate Dwight Howard with 625,279 votes.
In the West things are a bit odd.
Lakers guard Kobe Bryant leads the Western Conference with 692,518 votes. Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets follows Bryant with 588,958 votes. Dirk Nowitzki of the All-Star Game hosting city of Dallas received 366,300 votes, and Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns got 447,776 votes.
Many would say that Stoudemire is not deserving of being the Western Conference's starting center with Lakers center Andrew Bynum having such a phenomenal season, but the biggest injustice is Rockets guard Tracy McGrady joining Kobe Bryant in the backcourt for the Western Conference All-Stars.
McGrady received 281,545 votes and has not played one game this season. In no way is T-Mac deserving of being an All-Star, let alone starting. Has anyone heard of Steve Nash? Do fans actually watch games? Are the people in Houston trying to play a joke on the rest of the basketball world?
McGrady being second among all guards in the West is a slap in the face to the likes of Steve Nash Brandon Roy, Chris Paul, Chauncey Billups, Deron Williams, and Jason Kidd.
Fans should do the right thing. Go to NBA.com and vote daily for the most deserving player--not your favorite player.

2010 Vote Tracy McGrady Online Initiative

VOTE MCGRADY VOTE NOW!!
THAT'S why he's getting the votes, because the FANS want to see him play!!
Tmacallstar10....you are everything that is wrong with basketball.
Tmacs vagina will probably hurt and he will ride the bench just like he has since joining the Rockets.
People are voting by name and by team. The smaller market teams players are screwed over by the larger markets even when their players play better. Then ppl vote by name ala T-mac. T-mac isnt even a hasbeen, hes a never gonna be. He should just retire and fade away already.
by ur own figures wade has more votes then james or am i missing something??????
Cohan, Nelson, Maggette and moore must go.....
.....BOYCOTT the warriors.....
Forget Tmac. there are always gonna be people who vote in their favorite players when they're not deserving (AI the past couple of years) and F.Y.I. tmacallstar10, who are all these fans that wanna see him play. I think the biggest injustice is the fact that i dont even see Chris Kaman's name anywhere on this list.
What's wrong with voting for T-Mac? It's a fan voting event, so we should the fans be able to vote for anyone. T-Mac has a lot of fans. This has been going on for years. The league doesn't pick the best players, the all-star game is for the fans. tmacallstar10 is just being a good fan. Maybe everyone else should start a blog if they don't like it. Now I'm going to vote for T-Mac.
fans SHOULD vote for their favorite players whether they are averaging 30pts or only 5pts because its who YOU want to see in the game not the players who are so called the most deserving
nba all star voting is a joke....shows the intelligence of those who vote. pathetic. like the suns defense. oops, seems i forgot to take my positive comment pills again.
don't forgwt that T-Mac has lots of fans in China.
im a fan of adam morrison and i cheer like hell when he comes in during garbage time but does that mean he should be an all-star because im simply a fan of his and would love to see him in the game (He actually has more right to the all star team than tmac, hes played this season and is in the books). If we stick to voting process like that, guys like al jefferson, chris kaman and other worth worthy players have to wait and hope to get added to the team by the coach. Too many people see this as a popularity contest instead of awarding players who have had a great first half of the season.
I will not speak on T-mac not worth the typing. My opinion is we should just take the top 3 teams in their divisions, and pick by positions from those teams. If you look at statistice, they might be in the tops on their team and by position.
Ultimately the All-Star game isn't about the best player or even the most deserving player... its about the players that each fan wants to see. Tracy McGrady is my favorite player and being such a huge fan I want him to have the opportunity to represent the Rockets himself and the fans that support him on one of the games biggest stages.
as a wise man once said " and this is zactly why the fans shouldnt be allowed to vote". -Charles Barkley
If this injustice goes through, the Stern needs to put in a rule that states you must actually play in the regular season to be up for votes into the allstar game.
By the very name you guys are wrong, the NBA just attempts to get more fans by allowing them to ineract with the process and its failing horribly.
The biggest issue with NBA balloting is it is becoming an inter-national basketball association versus the NBA. Nothing against foriegn players, but when parts of the world only have one good player and huge populations the voting is messed up. aka Yao Ming. The only reason T-mac has the votes he does is because of China and the proof in this is that Aaron Brooks has the votes he does. Pathetic. There needs to be a means to vote the best (active) players in. Have a minimum # games played, statistical minimums, etc. before the ballot is created. The ballot doesn't need to be open for months. Allow people to vote just once. Balance out deserving small market players. The game is for the best players, and anyone that disagrees is not a true fan of basketball, the're in it for the celebrity factor.
well I have a different view on this. Stern got the fans involved in the process, which created future possible market in the international world. At the same time, to be consistent with that principle, Stern probably wanted the all star game to be a place where fans see who they love to see, and not who deserves it. It's all about business. So in essence, make another game that just contain those that deserve to play, and for all star game, keep it the way it is.
The reason he is getting so many votes is China: he is very popular there being a teammate Yao Ming. You can't vote for Yao and so the Chinese are voting for McGrady.....and no he is no longer worthy of being a starter.
LOL, Aaron Brooks over Deron Williams, that has to be the biggest joke. They should leave the fans out of this. Let the players decide. Brooks over Williams what a joke. Don't get me started on McGrady. You have to play to be an all-star. Hey, I have an idea. Lets start Magic on the west.
The way they are going this is crazy. Yes people want to see there favorite players, but we also want to see a great game. To have the best game possible, you need the best players possible. I don't see that here (T-Mac). There are a couple of people that could use that spot to show case there talent on the one of the biggest stages in sports.
I m just happy that Vince Carter is back again on all star. When he come to Orlando he has done the best thing in his long career.
jfjf
where is Zach Randolph?????
T-MAC ALL THE WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wOW THE western conference have a bad roster, Tracy McGrady over Steve Nash and Christ Paul wOW....
Eastern roster - Lebron james + Kevin Garnet + Dwyane Wade + Vince Carter + Dwight Howard = Great team
Western roster - Carmelo Anthony + Dirk Nowitzki + Kobe Bryant + tRACY mC gRADY + Amar'e Stoudemire = Not so great team
if u subtract tracy mcgrady and amar stoudemire = great western team :)
Phoenix players and Management, you are a great team but not so great in Defense. Scale up your defense and Suns will be unbeatable!
i think this is a gd way to get t-mac started again...an get on a team an go farther then the first round i mean he is a bad ass player..just the injury got em text 4 qustions 3047302075
"What's wrong with voting for T-Mac?" The fact that you even need to ask this question is mind boggling. What's wrong with it? He missed most of the season and has played like garbage since he returned. Yes it's fan voting but the entire point is to vote for the best player. Or is the concept of "All-Star" confusing to you?
Personally I am convinced the league can and will intervene when the voting becomes absurd. Like last year when Chinese idiots decided they'll vote for any Chinese player. Fine when it was Yao Ming but not so cool when they nearly voted in Yi Jianlin. To call him an all star last year would be laughable at best. Who's to say that Yi didn't get the votes and the league just decided that it would be an embarassment to let stupid fans who don't really care about the sport run the show in that case?
Even if T-Mac were to get the votes I guarantee you the league will step in. It's not like anyone would know. No way will he be an all star this year.
What the hell is yall problem. Although t-mac didn't play doesn't mean is isn't still a great player. The rockets are playing with his money and he's not sure if he should stay or go..........don't you forget what he is capable of doing. When he is good, he is just as deadly or even more deadly than LEBRON JAMES or KOBE BRYANT or DWAYNE WADE. please dont forget people
it is not a joke then do not come to this website lebron james kevin garnett rules vote for themmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm please
