Enigmatic shot-blocker, Sean Williams, will continue his career in the Israeli Super League next season after signing with Hapoel Jerusalem.
According to TheHoopsMarket, “The head coach of Hapoel Jerusalem, Oded Katash, confirmed the signing of the 23-year-old American forward, who played during his two and a half first seasons as a professional for the New Jersey Nets.”
A former first-round pick (17th) of the Nets back in 2007, the forward-center enjoyed a fine rookie campaign with the team and seemed to be on a path to a successful pro career after averaging 5.6 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 1.5 bpg in just 17.5 minutes per contest.
However, the enigmatic Williams, who had his fair share of problems while attending Boston College, found himself routinely in the doghouse during his second and third years in the league.
After a tumultuous two and a half years in New Jersey, the Nets chose to release the 6-foot-10, 235-lbs player in January of 2010.
Since then, Williams has gone to China to play for Fujian SBS XunXIn of the Chinese Basketball Association, as well as a stint with Puerto Rican club, Mets De Guaynabo.
In signing with Hapoel Jerusalem, Williams joins another former first-round pick, Will Solomon, who signed with the Israeli team earlier in August.
