7 year old Kristen Spears had cerebral palsy. Her doctor decided to use Botox injections to relax the musculature in her legs. The child's mom, Dee, is suing because she feels her daughter died from these
injections. Spears' claims that the drug company in question misrepresents Botox's safety record and inadequately warns health care providers of all the known risks of the product. Dee is a woman, a mom and the best advocate for her daughter and not a doctor or a drug company. Looks like a fight.
Laws requiring a 'watch dog' on drug companies to make physicians and the public aware of every known risk or how permanent these symptoms might be, exists but are compromised. But Federal authorities have mandated "black box" warning labels, of potentially serious reactions to Botox. The FDA's ordering of labels last year warning of "potentially life-threatening swallowing and breathing difficulties and even death" came a little too late for this 7 year old. Her mother feels the need to make this public.
The companies spending billions of dollars on the research, do have all that information. Oddly enough, there is no organizational will in the public to want to see these findings until its too late. Paradoxically, no law exists requiring drug companies to give totally accurate reports on how many people are harmed by any drug. After after billions of dollars of research maybe as a collective it's time to pay public attention to these scientific findings. lol.
As america slumbers, change from deep inside corporate structure is occurring, but will it be too late? Perhaps it is time for solutions to our collective problems to include a 'u'? If 'u' get involved would there be a soulution? So(u)lutions won't work unless they address the real problem they are intending to target. Collectively we have to decide: is the target that 1% of the population make decisions for 90% of the rest or is there a better equation?
Back to botulism facts. Botulism is so deadly that, as reported in an article in Rueters, in 2006, "three people living in Georgia developed food-borne botulism that was eventually traced to commercial carrot juice from a single bottle." If food borne is so dangerous, what does that make something that is injected directly into the bloodstream?
According to doctors, this fatal toxin is injected into the muscle and not into the blood stream where it causes problems. But according to common sense, anything injected into a muscle, like anti-biotics, eventually gets into the blood stream. And if symptoms of food-borne botulism are still present in victims a year after being poisoned as reported in PubMed, what could happen with injections? It seems like a kind of 'russian roulette' every time its injected.
Botulism is caused by a neurotoxin, generically called botulinum toxin, produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum; rarely by C. butyricum and C. baratii. So do doctors think that unless you speak Latin you won't understand English? Botulinum neurotoxin is considered one of the most potent, lethal substances known to man. Or maybe it is only Pharmaceutical companies that know that botulinum neurotixin is considered one of the most potent lethal substances known?
Doctors know more purified anything (ex. heroin) is more potent and that misinjections do spread beyond the injection site. They understand the strength of this poison. So why is it that the medical community believes this is a no risk product? One wonders why pharmaceutical companies fund so much of medicine today. Or does one?
Pharma knows they are at the pinnacle in a descending plot to destroy humanity in the name of greed. We need the drug industry so desperately that we are willing to sacrifice a lot of our perception and common sense. It's called the human condition. Humanity is in so much pain, we need these drugs. We revere the pill. We bow down to our needs for relief overall.
Even so, wouldn't getting in an alignment that doesn't pit an individual corporate entity's pleasure against the suffering of the collective, be more lucrative? We all need an even ground heart to heart, eyeball to eyeball, hand to touch once in a while. A soulution. Physics confirm there is a common link in all of life, that includes humanity. Our denial of a now sanctioned fact is in part responsible for us hurtling through space in almost absolute chaos.

Botulinum toxin has many valid uses in medicine. The kind used in medicine is actually far less potent than what is found in spoiled food. All medicines need to be dosed appropriately and this case appears to be the result of malpractice not the drug. It is a tragedy, but many more deaths occur from tylenol. Many children with CP can walk because of Botox. Medications require experienced, skilled practitioners. Botox for CP is not a big pharma invention.
doesn't botox freezes up rather than relax? where there no other alternative relaxant for a child? the parents should have been told or intervened, this all could have been avoided. this is medically stupid.
