Nice recap!
Pepto Bismol masks h-pylori, is what I was told (I almost died from ulcers caused by h-pylori) and when I went to take my follow-up test after the treatment, I was told not to take PB for 2 weeks before due to the masking. Has that info been discounted??
I don't know but it makes sense.
Thanks for the recap!

Thanks for the great info. I subscribed to you. :)
Thank you for the wonderful recap. Especially appreciate that you point out a few food items one would never expect to have gluten! Once again reiterates that nothing replaces reading labels...
Sounds a lot like IBS.
Hi Tina,
Thanks for your question.
According to Dr. Oz, the two doctors that discovered Pepto Bismol kills H-pyloric won a Nobel prize for the discovery. He didn't mention anything about masking.
However, when he gave treatment options, he said antiobiotics first and really indicated cranberry and PB can be used. So I felt he endorsed the antibiotics for treatment more than the other two.
I apologize if I didn't make that clear in the article. I hope this helps.
Deborah
Hi Hajo,
It is important to read labels and especially if you're gluten intolerant.
There was some inaccurate info that Hasselbeck and Dr. Oz said on the show. Please read the blog post I wrote today in response to it - 10 Important Facts about Celiac Disease and a Gluten-Free Diet www.glutenfreeoptimist.blogspot.com/
A great recap of the inaccuracies on the show can be found here celiac-disease.com/dr-oz-shares-key-celiac-information-with-millions-of-viewers/
I just bought cooked ham from the deli at the market because I thought I could eat it, but just not the bread. Then I read no deli meat. Would the ham be the same thing?
It's hard to say. Some spices have wheat in them so it depends on what your deli uses to flavor the ham.
Got something to say?
