Many Americans Still Worried About Swine Flu Vaccine Safety
A survey released on November 24th shows that a majority of Americans are still uncertain about the safety of H1N1 swine flu vaccines, and are worried about the potential side effects, including the rare severe reactions.
What Are the Common H1N1 Vaccine Side Effects?
The most commonly reported side effects of H1N1 swine flu vaccination remain pain, redness, or swelling at the site of the injection. Headache, fever, fatigue, and muscular aches are also common, though less so, and generally go away within two days of getting the swine flu shot. These mild flu-like symptoms are more common with the FluMist nasal spray vaccine.
Less Common Swine Flu Shot Side Effects Continue to Cause Worry
The survey shows that despite reassurances from health officials, many people continue to worry about the rarer risks of the H1N1 vaccines.
The most common worry is of the risk of Guillain-Barre syndrome. Although there have been only six cases reported to the CDC in possible connection with the H1N1 swine flu vaccine, it continues to be a major concern for many.
Also causing worry is the safety of the small amounts of mercury in H1N1 vaccines, which is up to 50% of the compound thimerosal, which is used as a preservative in the multi-dose formulas.
And another concern, though less so than the others, is the worry that the H1N1 swine flu vaccine may not be effective for long. Mutations of H1N1 have been reported in a number of places, and although they are rare, have not spread beyond a few individuals, and so far the vaccine has remained effective against the mutated H1N1 viruses, it still raises concern in many people.
Although there have been a few reports of death shortly after patients received the H1N1 vaccine, there has been no evidence that the vaccination had anything to do with the deaths, and most people do not consider this a serious concern.

Thanks for the informative article.
I wondered if you had heard anything about the situation unfolding in Los Angeles regarding The Westwood Stand-off, involving Joseph Moshe, microbiologist, blowing the whistle on Baxter Pharmaceutical in the Ukraine. He was made to look like a threat to President Obama to keep him from speaking out about the H1N1. "Joseph Moshe whistle-blower on Baxter releasing outbreak (mutated H1N1?) in Ukraine." Target: Freedom website
One thing people worried about thiomersal (aka thimerosal) neglect to recall is that the mercuy is ethylmercury, which does NOT accumulate in the body (the type that does, methylmercury) is what you'll find in fish (so... people who freak about thiomersal, but eat tuna, have it backwards, really).
Linda, I have heard about this stand off. The Boston Chronicle published a lengthy article about this and much more regarding the dangers of the swine flu vaccine. The title of the article was "Suspected Hemorrhagic Pneumonia Outbreak Hits Ukraine." Copy the title and paste it into any search engine and you should find it. There is good reason to believe that the mysterious illness which has just emerged in Ukraine may have been manufactured in a lab. Dr. Adrian Gibbs, one of the co-creators of Tamiflu has stated that a virus of this kind is virtually impossible to appear in nature. It is a combination of pig viruses, human viruses, and other things. Even more disturbing are the reports of several aircraft spraying something over the skies of Ukraine on October 30 of this year. The Ukrainian government has vigorously denied this. However, according to a South African website, one of the planes were forced down in Mumbai and a sophisticated nanospray mechanism was discovered.
Funny how they can dismiss deaths shortly after receiving the vaccine. They need to consider that maybe their cash cow could be killing people...
Many are worried about the effects of the H1N1 vaccine. It amazes me that they seem less worried about the effects of H1N1 itself. With the vaccine, at least you have an option; with the virus, you don't. The person standing next to you, or the person who just touched the doorknob before you did, will give you the virus for free. Ever stand next to someone when it's cold outside, and watch their breath? See how far it can spread and reach? Their might be a small risk with the vaccine, but there's a greater risk with the virus. Get vaccinated!
