Actor Taylor Lautner took home the award for Breakout Movie Actor at this year’s People’s Choice Awards. Taylor Lautner, who is of Ottowa/Potawatomi (along with French, Dutch, and German) descent, has gained widespread fame for his part in the successful Twilight Saga movies.

For the Twilight: New Moon, Lautner reportedly added 30 lbs to complete the character Jacob Black’s rapid growth and transformation into a werewolf and maintains this for the upcoming Twilight: Eclipse film. His character was given a lot more screen time for the second movie and emerged as a love interest to challenge the already established Edward Cullen. In September, Lautner told US magazine that it was "It's actually quite uncomfortable knowing so many people are seeing that! It's a little bit embarrassing!"

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie is set to be release in June of 2010 and includes a larger Native American cast for the parts of the La Push reservation characters. Taylor Lautner can also be seen in the upcoming flick, Valentine's Day, opening February 12, 2010.

The People’s Choice Awards aired on CBS, Wednesday, January 6, 2010 and was hosted by Queen Latifah. For more information, visit the People’s Choice Awards website.
