Wednesday marked the third of five nights of the Little Predators Hockey School at the A-Game Sportsplex in Franklin. Night three was a special occasion for all of the four to seven-year-old camp participants, as Predators right wing J.P. Dumont appeared as a guest instructor for the campers.
Prior to the on-ice session, Dumont posed for pictures and signed autographs for all in attendance. When the campers took to the ice, Dumont laced up his skates and joined the group of instructors leading the future hockey stars through drills aimed at improving their skating, puck handling, and shooting skills. Dumont was also pressed into duty assisting the young players in the proper way to grab a quick drink of water. It is an easy task on dry land, but out on the ice it is a much different story juggling hockey gloves, a stick, and wearing a helmet with a cage.
The Little Preds Hockey School runs through Friday night. With temperatures hovering in the 90s and the October start to the Predators season a long way away, Middle Tennessee hockey fans can get their puck fix by watching players on a much smaller scale than they are used to seeing. Led by head instructor Tim McAllister, the players are on the ice from 5:40 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. each night. A-Game Sportsplex is located at 215 Gothic Court in Franklin.
