NASCAR team owner Jack Roush underwent surgery for facial injuries Tuesday night before being transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota Thursday.
Roush was injured Tuesday when his plane crashed as he tried to land at Wittman Air Field in OshKosh, Wisconsin during an air festival. Both he and his passenger Brenda Strickland were able to walk away from the wreckage.
Strickland was released from a Wisconsin hospital Wednesday.
The Roush-Fenway Racing team which includes drives Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and David Ragan in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, will sport special decals on their racecars this weekend at Pocono Raceway site of Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup series Pennsylvania 500 wishing their boss a speedy recovery.
The Roush organization would like to thank the physicians and staff at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, Wisc., for the care and treatment provided during his stay,” the team said in a statement. “Once again, we would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and well wishes.”
Roush nearly lost his life in another plane crash in 2002.
