Kyle Busch did what?

He’s the most controversial driver on the NASCAR circuit at the moment, brash outspoken and able to divide NASCAR fans; they either love him or hate him. But Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Kyle Busch did something that surprised many; he apologized.

Busch became the object of several drivers’ ire after triggering a multi-car crash on lap 175 during the Lenox 301. As the field came to take the green flag after the seventh caution of the race, the No. 88 Chevy of Dale Earnhardt Jr. appeared to slow suddenly causing the cars behind him to stack up. It looked as though Busch got into the car of Martin Truex Jr. Truex spun and the ensuing melee took out the cars of Jamie McMurray, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, Casey Mears, David Reutimann, Brian Vickers and David Ragan.

As the field circled under caution, Truex, out of his car at that point, walked towards Busch’s Toyota as it went by and motioned as if to throw his helmet at it, he didn’t however but his anger at Busch was evident.

“I guess Kyle (Busch) just decided he didn't want to lift, so I was just an innocent victim today. Someone spun the tires and our lane didn't go,” Truex said. “Kyle just lost his head like he usually does when something bad happens. He decided he wasn't going to lift; he was going to turn me on the straightaway for no good reason at all. We have a tore up race car."

NASCAR had to red flag the race for nearly 13 minutes to clean the track up after the accident.

Vickers also had unkind words for Busch afterwards.

"While I was in the care center, I saw the replay and it looked like the 18 was just completely impatient -- very normal," Vickers said. "Just hooked the (No.) 1 (Truex) in the right rear and turned him in front of the field. If you wreck somebody on the straightaway, you kind of should be black-flagged for it. But that's NASCAR's call, not my call."

"I guess everybody just learns to expect Kyle doing something stupid,” Vickers added. Stupid is forever."

For Busch’s part he did something rarely heard from the Joe Gibbs Racing driver, he offered a humble regret.

"Unfortunately, I have to apologize to all those guys on the restart," he said. "I got into Martin and I hate it for him and Jeff Burton and those guys. It was just hard racing on a restart."

Truex and Vickers both finished the race in the garage; Truex was scored 37th, Vickers 35th. Kyle Busch came home seventh.

I am amazed, that even when Kyle FINALLY accepts blame for some of the things he does in a race care, he manages to make it a point to make it "indirectly" the fault of Dale Jr. Seriously, look at his comment.

From his vantage point, the 88 spun his tires on the restart. WRONG!

The 88 did spin his tires, but the problem is, Earnhardt was in front of Truex, and Truex was in front of Busch. The drivers have complained, that with the rear wing, they cant see through the car in front of them.

So how can Busch see the 88 spun his tires. He found out after the fact, that the 88 spun his tires, so he decided to apologize, with an "oh by the way, this all started because Jr spun his tires".

Give it a rest Busch, you hate Jr, we get it. If that happened with 30 to go, I have no problem with Busch shooting the gap, but there was 125 laps left!!!!!

Justin, you don't like Busch, we get it. Time for you to give it a rest. It is unimportant if Busch knew Junior was the reason Truex slowed in front of him. It was a chain reaction caused by the 88 spinning his tires. Truex got into the 88 and that was evidently OK but the next car back getting into Truex was evidently a not OK because it was the evil Kyle Busch. You idiots are hilarious!! Speaking of idiots, GMCMIKEY needs to quit shouting at us and hit the "caps lock" button. He should also take a look at his keyboard and have someone show him where all the punctuation keys are. And how will owning a "punk ass whip" will help Kyle grow up? Maybe a spelling or grammar lesson is also needed. Try to calm down a little and get some help from a 2nd grader before trying to communicate with the outside world again.

Whether you think the pileup was Busch's fault, or not. At least he took responsibility for it. Unlike the well know, most popular driver, who took out half the field at Daytona.

I agree with Justin...there are always excuses when it comes to racing. We race dirt track here in Oklahoma and I'd like to blame every mishap on someone else, if I could. I'm not a huge "Rowdy" fan, however, the guy can drive a racecar. I'm glad he stepped up to the plate and apologized...even if it's one of those, "I'm sorry...BUT..." apologies. Congrats to Joey on a lucky win! Let's Go Racin!

Hey QQQ, I dont hate Kyle Busch, when did I say that? I was looking at the incident for what it was. If it was Gordon, or Stewart, or Johnson that spun his tires, Busch wouldnt have mentioned it in his apology.

If you are a Busch fan, congrats, it doesnt make a difference, he is an incredibly aggressive driver, and sometimes it catches up with other drivers:

Richmond he took out the 88 by going too hard into the corner. If he had pushed it to the limit, and not over the limit, he would have passed the 88 clean in the next corner, he was faster

Martinsville, he took out Speed by driving too hard into the corner

NH, he takes out 8 cars by driving too hard on a restart with lots of laps remaining

He is the most talented driver in the garage, hands down, as soon as his brain catches up with his ability, he will be the best driver of all time. NASCAR has changed, the competition is much harder, if he wins 80, which he will, in todays NASCAR, you cant argue that he isnt t

Well he gave a half-hearted appology. I guess that is better than none. He is talented, but not the best in Nascar. Tony Stewart is the best in my opinion. Look what he has accomplished. When Busch can bring home a car with no power steering top 10 at Richmond like Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin have done, and win two cup championships and and IRL title like Stewart we can talk. How about winning the most Nationwide/Busch races like Mark Martin. He did not run a full season to do it either. Oh wait what about 4 cup championships like Jeff Gordon. Has he done any of that? NO! Everyone give it a rest. He is the hot driver now, but the best, not by a long shot.

Damn you people must have watched a different race than me. From my TV it was obvious that KYLE BUSCH BUMPED TRUEX 3 TIMES BEFORE THE START FINISH LINE!

Yes Earnhardt spun the tires and they backed up, but he was already hitting him before the green flag. That's just aggressive driving and should have got him parked for a couple laps.

But hey, if you listen to DW, or Kyle Petty, or any of the commentators, it's all about Kyle. Why do the other drivers even show up? They won't get any airtime, mentioned, or shown on the screen unless Kyle rams them.

And BTW I'm not a Kyle fan, and my driver's not Dale Jr. Believe it or not, some people actually pull for other drivers!
