Let us forget about the Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski saga for a moment. I believe two weeks worth of coverage by multiple publications is plenty. However, let us not wander away from the theme of feuds. Kevin Harvick decided to fling in his two cents regarding the incident, and his opinion of Edwards is less than flattering.
“I’ll be honest with you, I’m not a huge Carl Edwards fan. I think he’s fake as hell,” he told a radio show earlier in the week.
On Friday, he went on to say, “As far as the ‘fake’ comment, you can’t be the nice guy, you can’t be the bad guy, and you can’t be the bully. So, I mean, that’s just how I feel about that.”
The Harvick-Edwards rift exploded in the fall of 2008 following a wreck at Talladega. Harvick said Edwards raced like a ‘pansy’ when he spent most of the race towards the back of the pack. When he finally made his charge to the front, he triggered the ‘big wreck’ when he bumped his teammate Greg Biffle in the turn.
A week later at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Edwards confronted Harvick in the garage area, and a physical confrontation ensued.
At Daytona, Harvick criticized Edwards drafting techniques late in the race.
On Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway, Edwards clearly did not appreciate Harvick’s assessment of his persona. Naturally, he defended himself, and made his aversion for Harvick more manifest.
“I have absolutely no respect for Kevin Harvick. I think he’s a bad person. That’s my opinion. I’ve told him. We’ve had our deal before and his actions through that interaction were so devious and underhanded and cowardly that, it’s like I just have no respect for him,” said Edwards.
Would you not agree that the disdain between the drivers is palpable? That is when a rivalry is a rivalry. What better place is there for a feud to resurface than Bristol Motor Speedway? Harvick and Edwards will compete against each other twice this weekend in the Nationwide Series race on Saturday and the Sprint Cup race on Sunday.
Edwards continued his rant by saying, “I am not trying to be a good guy or a bad guy, that’s just who I am. All those people that say whatever they say know that if I have an issue with them, I go speak to them. I don’t go talk behind their backs like little girls…I learned that wasn’t cool in about the fifth grade.”
Meanwhile, Brad Keselowski made another bold statement by choosing Tom Petty’s ‘Won’t Back Down’ as his intro song.
It is going to be an interesting weekend in Bristol, Tennessee.

Just watched the ESPU pre-race show. Love the way the pit reporter baited Harvick. He walked away and she followed him. He showed some restraint in not snapping back at her. I wish ESPU would just do their job and not try to stir the pot.
I just watched Happy dump joey in the Nationwide race. Wasn't even a bump and run... just spin and wreck. I've never been ahuge fan of Harvicks but I was starting to come around, but I think this classless move puts me back to square one.
