Iris Johansen's Eve Duncan series to provide basis for Lifetime Television movie

Eve Duncan, the forensic sculptor whose continuing search to recover the body of her missing 7-year-old daughter, Bonnie, provides the driving force behind writer Iris Johansen’s mystery series, will be the subject of The Killing Game, a Lifetime Television movie, later this fall. No exact date has been established for the premiere of The Killing Game, even though the Hollywood Reporter first carried the story of the upcoming telefilm on June 16, 2011.

The Killing Game will star Laura Prepon in the role of Eve Duncan. Naomi Judd will play Eve’s mother, Sandra. Prepon, known for her long-running role as Donna Pinciotti in Fox’s That '70s Show, will also star in NBC’s fall 2011 comedy Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea. Judd, a Grammy award-winning country music singer and songwriter, performed with her daughter, Wynonna, as The Judds until illness caused her to retire in 1991.

The Killing Game is based on Johansen’s 1999 novel of the same title. A June 11, 2011 note on Johansen's website, identifies many of the characters from the book who also appear in the Lifetime movie. "Principal photography has begun in Vancouver, B.C. on 'The Killing Game,' the bestselling thriller featuring Eve Duncan, Joe Quinn, Eve's mother Sandra, Jane Maguire, canine search-and-rescue specialist Sarah Patrick, and of course Sarah's Golden Retriever, Monty," the entry reveals.

The Killing Game is the second of thirteen books in Iris Johansen’s Eve Duncan series, which she began writing in 1998. A 14th book, Bonnie, will be released in the U.S. on Oct. 18, 2011. Bonnie is also the last book in a trilogy; Eve and Quinn were published earlier this year. Since this trilogy is devoted exclusively to the story of Bonnie’s disappearance, Johansen may plan to conclude her Eve Duncan series with Bonnie. She has not, however, announced this to be her intention.
