If you've been within a 30-foot radius of me in the last two weeks, then you know that I've been desperately, and hopelessly in search of anyone who knows anyone that can make a sweet potato meringue pie.

A few years ago, the man I married and I went to Thanksgiving dinner at his aunt's house, and thats where I saw it. The Pie.
I love sweets. All sweets. And I feel confident in saying that I know a good dessert when I try it. But this pie. The Pie. Never in my life had I ever had anything like it. It was glorious, magnificent, and I ate so much I almost crapped my pants, and threw up at the same time.

It was like my first week of visiting India all over again, only this time I didn't have to give anyone a sample of my stool.

I e-mailed the woman who made and brought the pie to Thanksgiving dinner hoping she'd share her top secret family recipe with me. But I didn't hear from her for days. Assuming I had committed a Life Taboo by asking for a secret recipe, I hung my head, and continued on my quest to find out how to make that pie on my own.
And no one knew.
Ugh. People are so useless sometimes.

Then, just the other day, I got a response from her via e-mail, and turns out that the pie wasn't a secret recipe at all. In fact, the recipe was posted on epicurious.com all along, and she had no problem sending me the link!

I've never made a pie before, and I'm so excited to give this one a shot, I practically feel like I have to use the bathroom already.
