It has become a norm for certain elements to exploit a situation shamelessly and use it to further their racist and hateful agenda. Recently the Fort Hood shooting incident which sent shivers down every American's spine has been exploited by these racist elements. Thirteen American soldiers lost their lives but all these elements can think about is spreading more hate and desperately linking the incident to Islam.
Any time an incident happens and a Muslim is involved, it's automatically assumed by these hate mongers that Islam is responsible. All crimes committed by Muslims are considered to be Jihad and the suspects are linked straightaway to Al-Qaida and Taliban.
The shooter in this case is Nadal Hassan, a Muslim or as referred to in the headline below a "Devout Muslim." There is no justification for the crime he committed and should be tried according to Army's laws and regulations. It's apparent that he wasn't happy with the orders of deployment to the war zone because of the stories he had heard from the fellow soldiers he was helping. Apparently he had issues that he couldn't deal with and started the rampage. He is a mad man and doesn't represent the beliefs of the whole Muslim community.
In the case of the Ford Hood please examine the following headlines that have been surfaced:

These elements want everyone to believe that Islam is responsible for everything negative that happens in this country. What these people need to pay attention to is the other similar incidents that have taken place in the past few years. With the exception of one incident below all others were non-Muslims. Were the others also following the teachings of Islam when they killed fellow soldiers or family members?
• May 11, 2009: Five soldiers shot dead at Camp Liberty in Baghdad by Sgt. John Russell.
• Sept. 8, 2008: Spc. Jody Michael Wirawan shoots himself to death after killing 1st Lt. Robert Bartlett Fletcher at Fort Hood.
• Feb. 25, 2008: Dustin Thorson, an Air Force technical sergeant, fatally shoots his son and daughter at home on Tinker Air Base in Oklahoma in domestic dispute with ex-wife. He had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder after returning from Iraq.
• June 7 2005: Two National Guard officers are killed by a grenade at headquarters in Tikrit. Staff Sgt. Alberto Martinez is later acquitted of murder in a court-martial.
• March 23, 2003: Army Sgt. Hasan Akbar tosses grenades into three tents and then fires a rifle at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait, killing one and injuring 14. Akbar later receives death sentence.
• Oct. 27, 1995: Sgt. William Kreutzer goes on shooting spree at Fort Bragg, killing one and injuring 18 in a sniper attack during formation. He is serving a life sentence after a death sentence was overturned. "

Unfortunately the hate mongering will steal attention from the real issues. Was this post traumatic stress or terrorism? I don't think we will know for sure. It's a pity because the bit of true info -that trickles in- leads you to believe the guy snapped and the army had many chances to relieve him of his work but,didn't.

They are investigating the incident in Texas, but this one that you listed above was a terrorist event.
You calling non-muslims racist is bigoted in itself. Instead of burying your head in the sand, you should be calling out to those of your own faith that continue these actions in the name of Allah.

If anything, most Americans have gone out of their way to 'understand' and also to remember that not all Muslims are terrorists. It's not like Jews, Christians, Hindu's, or Budhists are carrying on any 'Holy Wars'. Get a clue before you start naming racists.
Right! Men (and women) that are in the midst of war and impending battles often do snap and commit acts of violence against their comrades. As if this is something new or unique to Muslims. Ridiculous.

Maybe we should second think this whole war thing and/or make some drastic changes at Fort Hood (a lot of preventable violence seems to happen there).
The day of the incident, a co-worker of mine, commented to me, "Did you see what his name was?" I knew what he was getting at. It was a shame that that was his first comment and I didn't open the conversation to further discussion. It's a shame that when a violent incident occurs, that religion is never mentioned via the media unless the antagonist happens to be muslim. It's a shame that when a muslim happens to commit an act of violence it is considered by the media masses to be either an honor killing or jihad. It's a shame that I endured hostile harassment for converting to Islam by a "devout Christian" co-worker/friend of ten years and was forced to change jobs. It's a shame that I now have to hide my identity in my second job from my new co-workers to avoid potential problems. We could all get along fine if we stop with this shameful attitude. As for this incident, what this man did was wrong and the consequences he will face in this life will only be the beginning.
Yeah, this is kinda like, back in the 1950's, whenever a white person who 'happened' to be in the Ku Klux Klan lynched a black person, everyone just assumed they were racist!!
Here's an idea: Let's make it a 'hate crime' to advocate violence against anyone based on their religion! Oh wait, then we'd have to ban the Qur'an.....
