Staples of the New York scene since the late 1990's Longwave have been chugging along steadily ever since. They have released four full length albums and a slew of EPs on various labels, had their fair share of line up changes and seen passing trends in music come and go. They have been a band that I've been following for many years, while the like-minded bands they've toured with (the Strokes) have come and gone, or moved up to a national stage (the National - ironically). It is about time they got their dues.
With their newest album, Secrets are Sinsinister, they band found themselves in a more stripped down line up, yet without ever sacrificing any "umph" from their sound. They toured for a while behind this album upon its release last year, but haven't been in their hometown much since then. Until now, when on Saturday, November 14th they are taking a well deserved headlining spot at the impeccable Bowery Ballroom in heart of downtown NYC.
To celebrate this fact the band has been releasing a new EP with b-sides, remixes, and unreleased tracks leading up to the show on a special website they put up. They also have an email contest for tickets for the show on Saturday, as well as a link to purchase advance tickets if you don't want to take chances. All of this is available HERE. Don't forget to check back for new songs each day leading up to the end of the week. I highly recommend this band, they put on a stellar live show.
