Despite her age, Lauren Taylor was raised on the music of the Beach Boys, Elvis, and Dolly Parton. It wasn't until she was 9 years old that she discovered the Beach Boys had broken up, Elvis was dead, and her friends were listening to current hits from Nirvana, Michael Jackson, and Kris Kross. She survived her teenage years during the boy band craze, and grew to develop an appreciation for music of all genres. Though some of her music choices have been more questionable than others, she has been writing and editing for multiple publications since earning her journalism degree in 2005.
