Lindsay Lohan's fans at a New York City tanning salon are demanding her release from an L.A. area jail.

The staff of the 'Beach Bum Tanning Salon' staged a rally/protest/Mad Men-style publicity stunt outside one of the chain's Manhattan locations on Tuesday morning.

Representatives for the Salon stated that they hoped the rally would "draw awareness to the harsh punishment inflicted on Lohan due to her celebrity status and that she will be released from jail before her 90 day sentence reaches completion."

Never mind that the West Memphis Three have been rotting in jail for almost two decades.  The American people are apparently more concerned with freeing the woman keeping tanning salons in business coast to coast.

Lindsay Lohan entered the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, CA on Tuesday July 20th and is expected to be released by August 2nd due to overcrowding in the prison system.

A protestor unaffiliated with the 'Beach Bum Tanning Salon' staged a similar, albeit solo, 'Free Lindsay' protest outside the Beverly Hills courthouse the morning the actress/pop star was taken into custody.

Props for the WM3 mention. Their plight is unconscionable. Wake up America!

I'm glad that you mentioned the West Memphis 3. I just thought about their situation the other day in comparison to this idiotic gesture. It sickens me that people will hype up "freeing" a celebrity that obviously needs help beyond prison, but they haven't voiced their concerns over the WM3 or what really matters in our country, world, well being of today. Hell, we have a couple wars going on, an oil spill, police riots, the list goes on. If it had been any of us "average" people, we would've been incarcerated within Lindsay's first DUI or drug possession. She's already had enough "breaks" from the system.

    Hey there,
just another post to thank you for bringing awareness to the West Memphis Three. And while we're on the topic, let's not forget the other wrongfully accused men that fell victim to a corrupt and biased legal system. Men like Tommy Zeigler, David Camm, Mumia Abu-Jamal, etc.
