SMI featured Artist of the month: Exclusive 'Furniture Girls' (SMI Radio Podcast Part II)

Greg Roth / SMI

Last week we featured our Podcast interview with Furniture Girls. We met up with the group a couple of weeks ago at The Great Nabob in Seattle for the interviews for the last couple of installments of SMI Radio.

What makes this band unique and makes them stand out from the crowd is their use of interesting sounds, textures, musical instruments and technology, coupled with intelligent lyrics and superb musical chops. Furniture Girls to creates a tasty blend of funk, electronic, industrial and alternative rock that is guaranteed to delight the eardrums and electrify the soul.

As you will be able to hear during the interview, the venue that we chose was bustling with the sounds of patrons, sharing drinks, food and good company. On the particular night we are there, a wine tasting and raffle is taking place. Normally this would not be conducive for a quality sounding audio interview but the noise and atmosphere provided a great backdrop for stimulating conversation with one of the Emerald City's most talented, creative and interesting bands.

The band has several dates coming up and was just recently added to the bill for The Comcast Bite of Seattle that will take place at the Seattle Center July 16th, 17th and 18th. They will play on the KISS FM Stage, Saturday, July 17th at 7:00pm. Scroll down to see a list of some of their upcoming shows.

In the second installment of the two part series, SMI Radio sat down with lead vocalist and co- songwriter, StacyC Meyer, guitarist, Bubba Jones, drummer and percussionist, Thane Mitchell and bassist Jim Watkins ( co-songwriter Nikki Wolgamott was not available) to talk about the bands music, creative process and inspiration. To find out more about the group, check Part 2 of the 2 part SMI Radio Podcast. This week's show features interviews with Jones and Mitchell. In addition, the show features several songs from the band and provide a sample of the their original and eclectic sound. To find out more about the group check out furnituregirls.com
