The fact that most Twilight fans don't know who she is doesn't matter - because they will after they see her portrayed by Kristen Stewart in The Runaways this spring.
The movie is written and directed by Floria Sigismondi - I'm a fan back from her Marilyn Manson, Living Things video days - so I'm expecting it to have more of an edge than typical Hollywood fodder like, say, maybe the Twilight series (I know, I'm mean to Twilight - I can't help it, it's everywhere, and Bella makes me sick to the stomach... though she's redeeming herself in the final book, so hopefully I'll come around!).
If the movie trailer [watch below] is any indication, Stewart could also finally be on the receiving end of some critical viability she's not getting as bleeding heart, bloodsucker-loving Bella Swan.
The Runaways also stars Dakota Fanning [I Am Sam, War of the Worlds] as Cherie Currie, Scout Taylor-Compton [Rob Zombie's Halloween movies, Charmed] as Lita Ford, and Alie Shawkat [Arrested Development] as Robin, a fictitious composite of the band's five bass players throughout their five-year career.
The Runaways released four studio albums between 1976 - 1978, but are best known for the song "Cherry Bomb," as well as launching the solo careers of Joan Jett and Lita Ford.

This movie will be a mixture of all the things I love.
I loved when Floria Sigismondi did Christina Aguilera videos and The Cure video. I love Joan Jett, I mean doesn't everybody? ANd I love Kristen, she seems like a very solid actress and I love Adventureland and Cutlass. Lastly I love rock'n roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Contrary to Paul's comment re Twilight fans - I've read the series seven times now, and am too embarassed to write how many times I've seen both films - I'm old enough to have seen The Runaways and just worshipped Joan from afar. Kristen's portrayal seems to be close to the real thing and I can't wait to see Ms Fanning as a rock 'n roll goddess too.
I think Kristen Stewart playing Joan Jett is the coolest role she been cast in since her role as Bella in the Twilight films. And Dakota Fanning looks like such a total badass in the movie.
Well hopefully now everyone will see what a great actress she really is....also I've been looking forward to seeing this ROCK N ROLL!! is there anything better!!
it looks like kristen had fun in this movie. It seems more like her,than the other movies shes done.
Kristen is poised to win an Oscar...if not for this...then for something in the near future...she is sooo exacting as an actress that I forsee...her being the most successful of the all the Twilight cast...even if...she's just an Indie Movie Queen!!!
Kristen and Dakota can you say Oscar the clip looks awesome they have to get Oscar buzz for their role. The transformation of Dakota alone and she is only 15 awesome!!!!!!
