Less than a week after U2 set an internet record with more than 10 million fans worldwide viewing a live webcast of Sunday's Rose Bowl performance, the Foo Fighters will be streaming a concert of their own tonight.
The performance will be broadcast live via the social networking website Facebook, beginning at 7pm Friday night, October 30. It will be webcast from the Foo Fighters' home base in Los Angeles, Studio 606.
The event is intended to help promote the release of the band's Greatest Hits collection, which hits stores Tuesday, November 3. The album will contain all thirteen of the band's hits (see track listing below), as well as two new tracks produced by Butch Vig, "Word Forward" and new single "Wheels" (watch video below).
In addition to the album's standard release, a deluxe edition will be accompanied by a bonus DVD featuring a select Foo Fighters videography including the new “Wheels” video, live footage from the band’s concerts at Wembley Stadium, Hyde Park and the Skin + Bones theater tour, and a few additional features. The deluxe edition will also contain a 28-page book with never-before-seen photos of the band throughout their 15-year history.
Fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters have been on hiatus, taking a break from touring and recording to concentrate on individual projects. Grohl has spent the past few months back behind the drums with Them Crooked Vultures, which also features Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.
