The American Idol Top 10 finalists were in LA yesterday for their live show at The Staples Center. Examiner.Com was able to get a few words with all 10 idols. Here is what Michael Sarver had to say.
EXAMINER: Who were your music heroes growing up?
SARVER: This goes back to a Christian background. Michael English. Vocally, he is amazing. Then Steven Curtis Chapman. Then my # 1 is Michael Jackson. I am not just saying that because he recently passed away. You can look on the web site and see that I said that a while ago.
EXAMINER: Who are your life heroes?
SARVER: My # 1 is my mom. Her name is Ellen. She never quit and never stopped. We didn't have the easiest life growing up, but she never gave up nor quit on us. I am here today because of a woman who never stopped. There are so many more as well.
EXAMINER: Who or what inspires you?
SARVER: God is the # 1 that I look up to him with every thing I do. There was a time in my life where I did not let him be the center of my world. I have lived that life and don't want to go back to it.
Also my aunt and my uncle Darren. He was a huge leader in my life, watching him walk in a better way really inspired me .He has since passed away.
EXAMINER: If you could do a duet with any one person who would it be?
SARVER: Celine Dion hands down. She is one of the most amazing vocalists we have ever heard in our time. She makes it look so effortless. It does not matter what your musical preference is or genre of music, you can't help deny the fact that she is amazing. When I first heard her singing, I was like god could you have not giving me at least 20 % of that voice.
EXAMINER: How are you adjusting to be on a tour bus and being away from home?
SARVER: I am not adjusting at all. I don't think I will ever adjust from being away from my family. I will do it because it is necessary, but I don't think I will ever get use to it. I hate it. I have been away from my kids for two months now and I hate it, but we are making it.
EXAMINER: Do you have anything that you would like to say to your fans?
SARVER: Without you, we would not be here. I think about the fact that we have started this as a nobody person off the road from a normal life and you have built us to who we are today and I thank you.
Sarver is on tour with the rest of the Top 10. They are performing at The Citizen Business Bank Arena in Ontario tonight and Saturday at The San Diego Sports Arena. Check back for the rest of the idols interviews.

Totally agree that Celine Dion is the finest voice in a very very long time. It's about time someone says it in the media even if many people in the industry thinks it!! But they are afraid to not be viewed as "cool"... Who cares? It's the talent that counts and not the musical preference. Michael, well said! Love your voice too! All best, J
