Hi everyone, I am back after a very long personal hiatus. Happy to be back writing reviews about music that influences the San Fernando Valley.
I first would like to congratulate my old friends Fishbone who were this past week on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show rocking it out and talking about their documentary film. The film titled "Everyday Sunshine" is narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and has interviews with some of music's greatest artists from the 20th century. Artists such as Mike Watt (Minute Men, Stooges), Ice T., Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and even Actors such as Tim Robbins speak about how Fishbone changed the music scene with their energy and versatile musical stylings. This documentary is a must see and is still in selective theatres now. Go check it out!
And now to some music. I have to say, Chris Brown is off to a great start to 2012. He has recently released a mixtape that has him singing and rapping to some blazing hot tracks. You really should go check out "Convertible", it is fire! C.B. also has an incredible verse on the remix to N***S in Paris by Jay Z/Kanye West. If you have not seen the video, go check it out on YouTube. It will surprise you!
In that same video, I came across a new artist named Torey Lanez. This new rapper showcases multiple rhyme styles in his over 2+ minute verse. He is skilled and should be Googled or YouTubed so you can see what this kid is all about. Hotness for sure. Watch out for this new artist in 2012.
Ok, that is it for now. I promise to come back each week to review the latest releases and talk about music with you.
Be good to each other, Peace!
