David Archuleta is set to release his sophomore effort Other Side of Down on September 14th. 19 Recordings/Jive Records is launching the album with the upbeat single, "Something 'Bout Love" co-written by Archuleta, Sam Hollander, Dave Katz and Chris DeStefano and produced by S*M* & Sluggo. The "Something 'Bout Love" digital single will be commercially available on July 20th and the radio impact date is slated for August 2nd. Declan Whitebloom (Jonas Brothers, Colbie Caillat, Jesse McCartney) directed the music video on Friday, July 16th in downtown Los Angeles.
"I'm really looking forward to releasing this album. Most of the songs on the album represent thoughts and experiences that I've personally gone through," says David in a statement. "I hope this album helps people understand more of where I'm coming from as an artist and as a person. It's about moving forward in life, making progress in accomplishing your goals and dreams while appreciating what life has given you."
Earlier this year, David Archuleta earned the distinction of the "Best American Idol ever" in a Billboard magazine reader poll. Archuleta was the American Idol Season 7 runner-up in 2008. The 19-year-old Utah native received accolades for his self-titled 2008 debut. The album contained the hit song "Crush," which has sold over 2.3 million digital units to date, and went on to sell over 750,000 albums. Last year, he released a seasonal album, Christmas From The Heart.
In June 2010, Archuleta penned his first book Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song, And The Power of Perseverance which debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list. The autobiography chronicles lessons he's learned in his young life so far and encourages young people to follow their dreams.
Archuleta is currently on a national book signing tour and in the process of completing his forthcoming album.
