Bryan Titus will be performing his CD release release party tonight Friday, Aug 20th at The Mint. The Mother Truckers are playing from 9-10:30 and then Titus performs with his group from 11 until... the train just keeps rolling.
Titus, can be seen all over town constantly performing in a variety of venues and he is the musician whom everyone roots for because of his talent, work ethic and fun-loving stage persona. For example, a fellow songwriter said to this writer recently out of the blue “Bryan Titus- there is a guy who deserves all great things!”
A genuinely appreciative person, the ubiquitous Titus’s enthusiasm is contagious in conversations, such as when he exclaims “I CAN NOT BELIEVE that we have our CD release party TOMORROW ... it feels like I've waited all my life for this!”
The album cover looks fantastic, the cool accessory gear has been chosen democratically by friends and fans and as for the music, a demo of a track “Got Life” that will be on the album proves well-crafted, fun, and catchy. Titus is in “mint” condition here, delivering the kind of song where first you enjoy a focus on the chorus but each time you hear it, you hear more that you also enjoy. Style and substance. Like the musician himself, the song is a true rarity.
Passionate, familiar and distinct at the same time, the music is an awesome and unique combo to pull off and Titus does! Strong bluesy vocals, a unique range of influences, and the arrangements hold a surprise twang that works well with the melody, the well-crafted lyrics and vocals. The equation as a whole catches the ear. The distinctive combo of easily enjoyable accessibility with a true depth of feeling, thought, and truth reminds one of the Cromwell, Connecticut native himself who grew up minutes from Wesleyan where Tierney Sutton, Flo Anito- (the subject of upcoming article), and MGMT members attended, where avant-garde jazz legend Anthony Braxton teaches.
There is something in the Connecticut water, the river of dreams, that combines with with the city of angels to form, at the very least, a great evening at the Mint for some good times on a CD release party this Friday night!
