Neil Diamond covers Adam Sandler's The Chanukah Song on upcoming Christmas album

Neil Diamond's A Cherry Cherry Christmas

Neil Diamond will release A Cherry Cherry Christmas, his third album for the holiday season, on October 13. The Jewish singer has recorded a cover of Adam Sandler’s The Chanukah Song for the new record making it Diamond’s first release to include a song about the Jewish holiday. Guns ‘N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba produced the track for Diamond.

Diamond’s performance is a straight-faced rendition of Sandler’s original version of the modern holiday classic with Diamond making only one alteration to the lyrics: the word “don’t” is sung in front of the line, “smoke your marajuanica.”

A Cherry Cherry Christmas includes a number of Christmas standards along with the title track containing references to some of Diamond’s biggest hits. Coincidentally, Bob Dylan’s Christmas In The Heart hits stores on the very same day.
