Rodney Lanier of Sea Of Cortez @ the Visulite
Sea Of Cortez opened at the Visulite Thursday night bringing their unique mix of instrumental mastery to the stage. The complexity of their music awakens the inner rhythms of ones soul. It was gratifying to see the guys out again on a large stage with a great sound mix.

Jesse Dee @ the Evening Muse
Over at the Evening Muse, the late show opener was Boston native Jesse Dee. Jesse brings vocal of a soulful sound via a powerful voice. His theme is not a blusy tone, but rather an upbeat positive take on a pop vibe with hints of old school rock with soul. Matthew Joy joined Jesse on guitar while Matt “Pie” Beaulieu kept time on the drums. Jesse had a standin bassist from Australia who was tight in keeping the beat. Tonight was a case of two showcase bands entertaining the music fans at the Muse.

Breaking Laces @ the Evening Muse
The feature act for the late show was none other than the Bronx, New York based band Breaking Laces. A mixture of Pop, Rock and gut busting humor front man and songwriter Willem Hartong kept the hits coming throughout the night with an ongoing interaction with the audience. Performing a number of tunes from the recently released CD “live at seaside”, the band was peppered with requests from an audience well in touch with the bands music.

Acknowledging a two year absence from the Charlotte area, Willem succumbed to the requests by completing the set, with a couple of encores tucked in without ever leaving the stage – he was searching for a way to meet the people’s expectations and he succeeded in a unique way. Closing the set with their rock hit “Angeline” was the only way to bring this night home.
Another great night of music in the Queen City.
Keepin it live,
