Simon & Garfunkel will reunite to play a tour of western Canada this spring.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, industry sources have confirmed that the legendary folk duo will play a number of dates in Canada with a concert confirmed in Winnipeg on May 5.

Spokespersons for the promoter Live Nation would not yet verify the duo’s appearance nor have the shows been officially announced on either Paul Simon or Art Garfunkel’s official websites.

Their only confirmed date this year is at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 24.

The “Bridge Over Troubled Water” hitmakers’ last outing was last October at the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York.

Their last tour was in the summer of 2009 when they performed a series of concerts in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Touring only sporadically, Simon & Garfunkel have not played Canada together since their “Old Friends” tour stopped in Toronto back in 2003.

The duo won several Grammys and, prior to their acrimonious break up in 1970, were one of the biggest recording artists of the 1960s, scoring numerous hits throughout the decade including The Sound of Silence, I am a Rock, Homeward Bound, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Cecilia, The Boxer, and Mrs. Robinson.

Did you know? Simon & Garfunkel’s current reunion began at the Grammy Awards in 2003 at which they were presented the Lifetime Achievement Award.
