QUESTION 1: What is the connection between Tennis’ Davis Cup and St. Louis?
ANSWER 1: The founder of the Davis Cup, Dwight Davis, was born in St. Louis. He captained the first U.S. team and they won the first cup.
QUESTION 2: Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, christened in 1809 in St. Louis in a church where the Cathedral Basilica now stands, is the son of what famous woman?
ANSWER 2: Sacajawea, who gave birth to him during the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Jean Baptiste Charbonneau’s father was Toussaint Charbonneau, a French Canadian trapper and interpreter, but he was adopted by William Clark.
QUESTION 3: What is the title of the documentary shown daily below the Gateway Arch? For extra credit, what is the name of the theater where the documentary is shown?
ANSWER 3: “Monument to the Dream,” the 1967 documentary about the construction of the Gateway Arch, is shown daily in the Tucker Theater, in the museum and tram complex located beneath the Arch. The documentary is available for purchase.
