Summit Entertainment announced today they have a director for 'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.'
Oscar award winner Bill Condon has been chosen to direct the most complex book in the series.
Condon is well known for such directing projects as; 'Dreamgirls', 'Kinsey' and 'Gods and Monsters', for which he won a best adapted screenplay Oscar in 1999. Bill was nominated for a second Oscar for his screenplay 'Chicago'. The multi-talented director also helmed the pilot episode of Showtime's series 'The Big C.' Bill Condon also produced the 81st Academy Awards which was one of the best in recent memory with Hugh Jackman as host.
Everyone involved with 'Breaking Dawn' seems happy with Condon as a choice.
According to Erik Feig, President of Production and Acquisitions, for Summit Entertainment;
Bringing Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn to the screen requires a graceful and intelligent hand and we believe Bill Condon is exactly the right steward, having shown equal and abundant talents of immense creativity and subtle sensitivity.
Stephanie Meyers added;
I'm so thrilled that Bill wants to work with us. I think he's going to be a great fit, and I'm excited to see what he does with the material.
As for Condon himself:
I'm very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book-and we're hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience
Anyone familiar with this book knows that it is this book that truly brings "Twilight Saga" into the adult world as far as Edward and Bella's relationship goes. Bringing this book to the screen has to be handled in a manner that will facilitate t'weens ability to go to the film.
The screenplay is being written by Melissa Rosenberg, and will star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer will produce.
'Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens June 30th, stay tuned here to get info on 'Twilight' parties etc. in Las Vegas.
