Michael Douglas has been honored with the AFI Life Achievement Award and he definitely deserves it.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Douglas' wife, performed the opening act, which brought her husband to tears. The way he watched her, it was as if no one else was there; he was so proud of her and so in love with her.
A compilation of family video footage was shown; his children often spoke of the love they have for their daddy. These were some intimate moments that he and his family were willing to share.
When Kirk Douglas, Michael's father, spoke it was extremely heartfelt. He is so proud of his son and was choked up when he spoke about him. He told some stories and was very funny.
Douglas is an amazing actor that truly steps into his roles and becomes the characters that he portrays. He has earned this award.

Many clips of his movies were shown. These clips were some of the best moments in many of Douglas' films, where his talent truly shines through. Many actors and actresses that Douglas has worked with spoke about their memories of working with him.
When Douglas was presented his award by Jack Nicholson, he made a few jokes, but also discussed the reasons behind him receiving the life achievement award. His jokes were great, including the mention of having to be ID'd at an event to honor him.
Side note...the AFI commercial that was shown was wonderful. There were many stars that were included in it; each of them at the movies appreciating the art that is film.

I´m a 60 years woman that considere Michael Douglas the best actor my eyes have ever seen. I recently saw AFI honor to Michael, it was simply marvelous, he deserves that and more. I was a very impression moments for me. I felt also really happy to see Kirk Douglas, Michael´s father, my dad ( already death) favorite actor.
