ANALYSIS

Thanksgiving usually gives a variety of films a much needed boost to its gross total.  A flick, such as the newly released Ninja Assassin, clearly benefited from the holiday timeframe and is actually exceeding original estimates.  The take from the gore-laced martial arts feature and the jump that The Blind Side received in conjunction with the holiday weekend, has Warner Bros. exec's in a festive state of mind.

Other new releases include Disney's Old Dogs, Weinstein's limited release The Road, and Twentieth Century Fox's Fantastic Mr. Fox.  The latter expanded nation-wide to over 2,000 theaters in what technically is its third week of release.  The unique animation is not attracting the volume of people it was hoping.  Old Dogs came in a bit under expectations and that probably happened since critics have slammed this movie.  If one just takes the star power of Robin Williams and John Travolta in the flick's lead roles, this should have performed better.  Especially over the holiday weekend with its family appeal.  The Road only opened in a hundred or so theaters and may expand in the next few weeks.

So The Twilight Saga:  New Moon comes in at the top spot once again.  In its second week, the flick is already up to just over $230 million.  The 2nd chapter of the popular series is critic-proof and is being praised for actually sticking with the material from the books by its beyond-loyal following.  Depending on how it performs next week, the flick could be on its way to well over $300 million at the domestic box office.

Precious, The Men Who Stare at Goats, and Christmas Carol currently hold the longest streak in the top ten with 4 weeks apiece.  A Christmas Carol will be hanging around for awhile.

Flop alert:  Planet 51.  The traditional animated flick from Sony is just getting lost in the shuffle.  Sleeper hit:  Ninja Assassin.  Showing off a strong performance over the holiday weekend may lure a few more people to check this out.

The only new release of note that is hitting the box office next weekend is Armored.  This should debut in the lower bracket of the top ten.  Look for Twilight to hold its position in the top spot for at least another week.

Well, i just feel that New Moon becomes a soundtrack parade. Too many soundtrack that they use for this movie. One missing link, i wonder how Bella know that's Sam who stands in the cliff when she's in the car with Jacob? Well, we can't compare the movie with book rite? Coz if we compare the book with the movie, i bet we'd feel disappointed. Still, don't compare the book with the movie..
