The final days leading up to the death of author Edgar Allan Poe are every bit as mysterious as the stories he wrote. Some say he was killed, some say he was drunk and found in a gutter, a few even believe he had rabies. Nevertheless, “V for Vendetta” director James McTeigue plans to tell a fictionalized version of the tale in his next film.
The title of the film is “The Raven”, and will be both an adaptation of Poe’s poem of the same title and a period crime thriller detailing the last five days of Poe’s life. In the film, Poe will join in the hunt for a serial killer whose murders are inspired by his stories.
The screenplay is written by Hannah Shakespeare, and McTeigue is currently in the middle of casting the film. No word yet on when shooting will begin.
