It seems the good folks over at Ain't It Cool News received an exclusive regarding the next Rambo film. They are reporting that Rambo V: The Savage Hunt will be set in the Pacific Northwest, where John Rambo was first introduced to us. The story revolves around:
"a U.S. Military installation that is doing experiments on elite soldiers as part of some sort of program where they're attempting to tap into that SAVAGERY that we have deeply embedded into us. The plan is create brilliantly instinctual killer soldiers that have no qualms about taking life. Sly brought up the ancient Immortals, which were cartoonishly glimpsed in 300. In reality, they were children trained from the time they were infants to kill.
Well as happens with Government Experiments to create the perfect killer - it goes exceptionally well... and then exceptionally badly. And Rambo is brought in with a Black Ops squad ("Like in PREDATOR") to hunt, capture or kill this worse than Rambo killer."
Of course, the project is in an early stage of development, so things are destined to change, but it seems like Sylvester Stallone and co. are going for more of a science fiction take on Rambo. It'd be interesting to see what happens with this. The last Rambo film (deceptively titled Rambo) was both a critical and financial success, and marked the character's first appearance since 1993's Rambo III.
Ain't It Cool News also provided users with a quick and early teaser poster, which you can view by clicking the photo below.
This is actually pretty exciting news. Stallone's resurgance of Rocky and Rambo were both quite excellent, and definitely worth checking out. Though, after viewing the one sheet, one can't help but get the feeling that Rambo might be fighting werewolves, which would, in turn, still be pretty cool.

That picture on the "teaser poster" is actually from "Rambo". The scene at the end where he's looking over the battlefield after wiping out the Burmese soldiers.
