Kenneth Branagh leads a handsome cast in this 1998 murder mystery based on a John Grisham story. Branagh stars as Rick Magruder, a hotshot lawyer from Savannah. Magruder becomes involved with a strange woman named Mallory Doss (Embeth Davidtz) after driving her home one evening after her car is stolen in front of the both of them. It seems that Mallory has more than her share of family problems and her father Dixon (played by a enjoyably hissable Robert Duvall) is a psycho who has broken out of the booby hatch and is gunning for Magruder and Mallory.
The Gingerbread Man is a tense, nail-biting movie. It will keep you guessing and just when you think the tension over, hang on cause there's much more.
The movie has one major problem and it's the lighting! In the beginning and near the climax, the lighting is so dark it's hard to tell what's going on! This is a frustrating problem that keeps The Gingerbread Man from being a classic.
If you can get past this, check it out! It's good for a rental!
