Yahoo News reported that Shia LaBeouf will play a young Wall Street broker in the sequel Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. The original film was directed by Oliver Stone; however, Stone is not expected to return for the sequel.
The screenplay was written by Allan Loeb and will have Michael Douglas return for his infamous role as the money-hungry, unethical corporate giant, Gordon Gekko,

Gordon Gekko is just released from his incarceration for breaking insider stock trading laws and gets back in the game. Playing his estranged daughter is British import, Carey Mulligan who will also be the love interest of Shia LaBeouf’s character. This is the first major studio film role for Mulligan but she received raving reviews for her performance in “An Education” at the Sundance Film Festival. She also had a bit part in Public
Enemies.
The original Wall Street was known for its classic one-liners such as “Greed is Good.” “Lunch is for wimps.” “What’s worth doing is worth doing for money.” and “If you need a friend, get a dog.”
Frank Langella is reported to return and Josh Brolin is also in talks for a role in the movie.

Actually, I heard that Oliver Stone will be directing this, from a friend who is on set with them starting this Monday morning. Might want to get facts straightened out. :)
Andrea, thank you for the information. But I must report (at the time this is written) what is confirmed. At the time of this article, it was NOT confirmed that Oliver Stone would direct, negotiations had not been completed. If you click the hyperlink that says "not expected to return" (that's why I add hyperlinks to show my sources and to validate my article's information from more than one source), it will say the same thing. If he does direct this film, I will do an update when that information is released in the industry trades, ie. Variety or HOllywood Reporter. thank you. Renee
Again, thank you. I have checked since the date of this article and Oliver Stone HAS been confirmed to direct this film. At the time of this article. He was not CONFIRMED yet. Thanks again.
