It isn't often that we see a Disney animated feature turned into a live-action film, but it appears as if they may have picked the perfect one to give it a shot with.
Director Jan de Bont (Speed) is going to be directing the live-action version of Mulan.
The film tells the tale of a legendary female Chinese warrior by the name of Hua Mulan. She defies all the odds in order to join an all-male army and help defend her country and honor. Mulan must do everything she can to keep her identity a secret or else face dire consequences.
Mulan is based on an original sixth century poem.
It's not necessarily true that the live-action film will be based on the Disney animated film, but more so just a film based on the poem. Don't expect some of the comedy or silliness that was in the cartoon version.
Zhang Ziyi will be starring in the title role of Mulan, and supporting roles are currently being cast. It is set to begin filming this fall in Shanghai with no date set for release yet.

Live-Action Mulan? Okay, I do like Zhang Ziyi, but in my heart Disney's Mulan will always be a classic and one of my favorites. I will reserve judgment until I see the trailer/movie. Thanks!
Wow, she looks perfect for the part of Mulan.
