See-it, rent-it, skip-it: top 15 movies in theaters Friday, July 17th

HP6 is one of the best.

Not sure which movie to see this week in theaters? Let me help you out. The following is a list of films playing in the majority of theaters around the nation, including the latest (and possibly greatest) Harry Potter film, bringing in $396.7 million worldwide in its first five days at the box office.

1.  Hurt Locker - See-it if you can - This nearly perfect war epic is "well-acted, intensely shot, and action filled." Like Jarhead or Blackhawk Down? You’ll love this!

2.  Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - See-it - Though Harry Potter races through each memorable moment in the book, it does so while remaining true to the story, superbly entertaining, and completely comprehensible.

3.  500 Days of Summer - See-it - Rarely do you find a romantic comedy that feels like it could actually happen to you, but 500 Days of Summer plays out like every relationship you've ever had; however, managing to remain completely intriguing along the way.

4.  Bruno - See-it - Hilarious, offensive, insightful, crude and unbelievable - these words simultaneously describe Sasha Baron Cohen's latest character and film, Bruno, the newest "mockumentary" from the man who redefined the word in 2006 with Borat.

5.  Away We Go - See-it - From the director of American Beauty, Away We Go stars Jim from The Office and Maya from SNL in one of the most sincere films about the ups & downs of relationships of all time.

6.  Humpday - See-it if you can - An unyielding comedy about masculinity, friendship and sexuality.  Humpday will make even the macho-est men laugh and/or squirm into enlightenment.

7.  Public Enemies - See-it - Depp plays Dillinger perfectly and Mann's Tommy-gun-blasting-vintage-car-chase action sequences are top notch (as expected), but Bale falls short with little to work with in this generally lacking dramatic story.

8.  Moon - See-it if you can - Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey star in the relatively unknown film about an Astronaut living on the far side of the moon.

9.  Death in Love - Rent-it - A riveting and fascinating horror/drama where "family, history and sexuality collide."

10.  My Sister's Keeper - Rent-it - If you are in the mood for a heart-wrenching story about two young sisters facing some very grown-up decisions.

11.  The Way We Get By - Rent-it - An unsettling and compassionate story about troop greeters, a group of senior citizens who gather at the airport to welcome back soldiers from the war.

12.  Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Rent-it - Like everyone has said and heard: It was super racist, raunchy, long and cheesy. But giant robots fighting to the "death" Michael-Bay-style is always totally rad.

13.  Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - Skip-it - Unfortunately, this originally hilarious and adorable series about our near-Dinosaur and pre-human friends is nearing its extinction.

14.  Homecoming - Skip-it - The OC's Mischa Barton returns in another completely contrived story about high school love and crazy childish jealousy.

15.  I Love You, Beth Cooper - Skip-it - This film, like its star Hayden Panettiere, is the same formula for a teenage romantic comedy and poster girl you've seen a hundred times before. Beth Cooper lacks any originality and actually reinforces the stereotypes it attempts to exploit.
