Las Vegas: a high-tech movie theater paradise for all ages

With upcoming motion pictures such as James Cameron's highly-anticipated 3-D movie "Avatar" being available for screenings only in movie theaters equipped to show the film in 3-D, movie theaters around the United States are being built with a definite focus on adhering to Hollywood's newfound goal of developing high-tech movies for the millions of movie buffs around the country.

Ever since Hollywood producers first started seeing some of their film's profits going down the drain when copies of their high-budget movies started showing up on the web as free downloads even before the movies were released in theaters, Hollywood saw that they needed to find a way to discourage such theft of their hard-earned movie profits. 3-D film technology cannot be reproduced and downloaded to the Internet, so 3-D film production has been accelerated in the past year or two.

Las Vegas has been building and re-modeling so many movie theaters in the Vegas area that "Sin City" can now be considered the primary leader of this new high-tech movie theater revolution more than any other U.S. city. Looking at the amount of high-tech cinemas currently in the Vegas area such as Rave Motion Pictures that features seven 3-D equipped movie theaters and Red Rock Casino's Regal Stadium 16 that includes a 50-foot digital I-Max screen along with Regal's four 3-D equipped theaters, and you can see how Vegas is gradually building their "high-tech" movie theater reputation.

And those two relatively new theaters are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg when you consider that there are five I-Max theaters in the Vegas area that not only feature a picture-perfect digtial I-Max image, but also that eighty-percent of the twenty-three movie theaters in this area are equipped to handle the latest iterations of Hollywood 3-D motion pictures. Talk about high-tech movie heaven!

When I first saw a movie at Rave Motion Pictures in 2008, I was fairly amazed at the amount of leg-room that each theater made available to their patrons. Not only that, but I was very impressed with the fact that all eighteen of their theaters featured DLP digtial-projection. That means that no matter which movie you happen to see at the Rave cineplex, you will be watching that particular movie in high-def, with accompanying DTS digital surround-sound as well.

Which just goes to show that Vegas is not just for the gamblers and party-goers amongst us anymore. If you are a high-tech movie lover that wants to experience the very best when it comes to the exciting high-end movie going experience, make sure you put aside some extra time to enjoy some of the high-tech movie theaters found in the entertainment capital of America: Las Vegas.

I have to be frank here: I'm glad you're excited about movies, but it doesn't really seem like you researched this very well. First, it's "IMAX", not "I-Max". Second, are these full-size original IMAX screens, or the new, smaller, not-as-tall screens that some enthusiasts refer to as "LIEMAX"? Are there any 70mm film venues in the city? This is not digital, granted, but a 70mm frame contains nearly twice the effective resolution of a 2K digital projector. Movie buffs excited by tech other than 3-D want to know!
