Here is the fascinating trailer for Heath Ledger's final film, the Terry Gilliam-directed The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. I'm a big fan of Gilliam, especially when he steps into his mind and pulls out these fantastic and bizarre images (the deflating man-balloon in this trailer is particularly striking). Combine that with the great cast, and the intrigue of seeing Ledger's final performance, and the critical quotes from all over cited in the trailer, and you've got a film you won't want to miss this fall. Will Ledger's career end with a classic? Will it be nothing more than a bunch of pretty images and strange characters? Will it outright flop, as some of Gilliam's films have done when he goes completely off the deep end? We'll see come October 16th.
Final note: Tom Waits as The Devil is an inspired casting choice for Satan if ever there was one.
