Took a trip to the AMC Studio 30 on Dunvale Rd to see Predators earlier today. The theater was more full than usual for a showing before noon, so here's hoping the film actually pulls off some decent numbers at the box office.
The very first trailer was for Machete, a film that Grindhouse and Robert Rodriguez fans have been looking forward to for quite some time. Machete looks like it'll be a lot of ridiculous fun. It'll be interesting to see if what was originally a two minute trailer can be stretched into a full length film and still be as entertaining. The rest of the trailers were as followed:
- Oliver Stone's Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps starring Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf
- Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
- Resident Evil: Afterlife
- Middle Men
- The Expendables
- Chain Letter
It was the first time I had seen the trailers for Wall Street 2, the new Resident Evil, Middle Men, and Chain Letter trailers. Wall Street 2 might be the only film out of that bunch I might consider seeing. Afterlife looks pretty weak and the rest of the franchise isn't so hot, Giovanni Ribisi is the only thing drawing me to Middle Men, and Chain Letter looks like a direct to DVD horror film that they decided to release theatrically for some weird reason. I have high expectations for Scott Pilgrim and The Expendables has slowly dragged me in as production shots and trailers have hit the web.
The theater visit was pretty ordinary, but a few of the things that happened on the way home weren't. As I'm pulling out of my parking spot at the theater, there was this black bird standing in the grass with its mouth open and wings spread out as far as they could go. I guess it was trying to cool off or something, but it was just standing there like that like it was a statue. I wish I had my camera at the time. It looked pretty funny. It just made me think that if a person was re-enacting what that bird was doing, it would be even more hilarious.
A few intersections before I turned off of Westheimer to come home, there's this man holding a sign at the light. No big deal, right? Everyone sees that kind of thing all the time. This guy was holding a sign that said, "CANCER PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN." I'm not sure about you, but that was a first for me. The first thing that crossed my mind was if this middle aged man actually did have cancer, then why the HELL was he standing out in the middle of the road when it's 95 degrees outside? Shouldn't he be in an air conditioned environment? At least be comfortable before you possibly pass on.

seriously, Who cares about a bird and guy with a sign. Explain what this has to do with an AMC studio 30 recap. Lame!
Wow, Joseph. Feel free to take some Midol or get larger panties. Geez.
Well Joseph, it happened on the way home from the theater and I figured since most people don't respond to these very often that they were kinda boring. I was trying to add a little something else to them. A little humor, if you will. I apologize if you feel like you wasted your time, but thank you for reading nevertheless!
