It is official: Hollywood is so afraid of failure, there are no original ideas being made into movies.  All we have are remakes, reboots, revamps, re-imaginings, and every other word with the prefix "re-" attached to it.  Oh yeah, and we have movie franchises meant to "revitalize" toy franchises (Transformers, GI Joe and now Max Steel?).  Why?  These are practically guaranteed to make enough money to justify the project.  Fans of the originals will go out to see the film regardless of how bad it may look.

So, it should be no surprise to anyone to hear that another remake has started shooting.  This time The Karate Kid gets a face-lift.  But, now we have Jackie Chan as the Kung-Fu master and Jaden Smith as the apprentice?  Ok, Hollywood, let's get this straight: you're giving us The Karate Kid minus Pat Morita, Ralph Macchio, and obviously without the sweet 1948 Ford Super Deluxe (one has to assume the car will not be in the movie since Jaden Smith is years away from being old enough to drive it!).

The film, entitled Kung Fu Kid, just started shooting in Beijing and is set for a June 11, 2010 release.

Jackie Chan may be great at what he does, and entertaining in movies, but this has got "BAD IDEA" written all over it.  What are your thoughts?  Is there any possible way this could turn out to be a good remake?  Sound off fans, comments section is yours.

This is giong to be the worse movie of 2010 there will be pornos with thicker plots when I first heard this idea my thoughts were no way a black karate kid but then said ok I can't be racist be open minded and then i found out that this kid is ten years old are you serious this movie was great for what it was it truely doesn't need to be remade but if your going to remake it, remake it correctly that story could be told a thousand ways and still be great a poor kid gets bullied and then a karate master finds him and shows him the way until he himself becomes an acomplished fighter. but he has to be old enough to do something i mean a ten year old are you serious whats he really going to do you can just pick him up and throw him in the van if one was going to kidnap him. and Jackie Chan Great martial artist but the fact is he has already established in all of our minds that he is a kung fu guy not karate not to mention that he is chinese.

bit frustrated to see JC tryin Hard in Hollywood but not much great work coming out! As far as Will's kid, hope he learns to do some stunts. Though its early to say hope they have a dark plot in it (which seems unlikely)
