In the biker community there is a group known as GBNF (Gone But Not Forgotten) or FBNF (Fallen But Not Forgotten). These terms are used when one of our brothers or sisters has passed away.
Unfortunately, BLACKSHEEP “Curly” Richard Stowell joined that group at 2:44am on June 7, 2010 and true to biker tradition, bikers from all over the DFW metroplex and out of state, will be celebrating his life tomorrow. There will be a visitation where family will receive guests this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Charles W Smith & Sons Chapel, 2925 Fifth St, Sachse, TX 75048.
This society of two wheeled, leather clad populace is extremely passionate when it comes to taking up causes. Whether it’s a political fight for Constitutional rights, righting wrongs, defending or aiding children and other innocent victims, bikers love to champion noble principles and ideas.
Such was certainly the case in Curly’s life and death. In life Curly and his family, wife, Teresa (aka Kackle) and 3 young daughters, Kristin, Hannah and Cate were faithful members of Firewheel Church in Garland, Curly was a member of BLACKSHEEP MC and family members were ardent participants in fund raising for many charities.
In death, Curly’s organ donations gave life to four people and sight to two which was no easy task. Instead of saying goodbye at the bedside of the love of their lives, they waited until proper donor candidates were identified (some in other states) and synchronized with harvesting, which took another day and a half. But that is the way Curly was in life, always looking for someone to help or lift up.
At the BLACKSHEEP MC website, there is a place to post condolences and typical comments were:
- Curly & Kackles, you guys would always give me a hug every time I saw you, and it meant more than you'll ever know.
- Curly, you are an inspiration to us all. We love you, and your kick stand came up for the last time. Ride free my brother, I will see you and ride with you again.
- Curly, you were one of the best. You were always there to help out a brother or sister, it didn't matter what time it was or what he was doing.
- Ah, Curly. Words cannot adequately express how much we will miss you, your laughter, and the joy and happiness that you brought to our lives. You cared about us from the very beginning when no one else did.
Curly’s funeral will be held tomorrow, June 12th 1:00 at Firewheel Church in Garland located 1600 W Campbell Rd. In typical biker tradition, a motorcycle procession will take Curly to the grave site. BLACKSHEEP MC will lead the procession. Wolverines will block (bikers do their own traffic control). All other riders will ride behind hearse and family. Also keeping in typical biker tradition a celebration of his life will follow (and I’ve seen this manner of tribute celebration go until the next day or two).
Curly will certainly be missed.

It's always hard to say good-bye but it looks like bikers in DFW will send Curly off in style.
Richard"Curly"Stowell was my big brother. He was 9 years older than me. I had a very hard time at his funeral. However, our parents, Teresa(his wife),Dale(my other brother),and his Blacksheep family helped us alot. Another thing that helps alot is knowing that we will see him again in Heaven some day. I just wanted to say we appreciate everything that everyone has done for all of our family.
What Patty Davis said... It's always hard to say good-bye but it looks like bikers in DFW will send Curly off in style.
and so they did.
