A total of $7 million has been distributed by the federal government to all 50 states for motorcycle safety purposes. Each state received at least $100,000 and some states received as much as $300,000. The grants are part of a program authorized by the Safe Accountable Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users, also known as SAFETEA-LU.
The purpose of the program is to provide grants to states that adopt and implement effective programs to reduce the number of crashes involving motorcyclists. To be eligible, states must support programs, among others, such as motorcycle rider training courses, motorcycle awareness programs, or impaired driving programs for motorcyclists.

Comments
I hope every penny of the $104K that Louisiana actually goes to the safety programs; but somehow I doubt it. Thanks for the info.
I am as skeptical as Mary - I'm guessing the administrative overhead for each state cuts into the the bottom line - a lot.
