Bike Week is wrapping up for 2010 now in Daytona Beach, with cool weather having kept the crowds down from previous years. Cool or not, though, there were definitely still crowds. Custom motorcycles, as always, were present in large numbers and the streets were lined with bikes.
As he was last year, our man Friggs was on the scene and sent photos and his report.
"This year the weather was chilly, attendance was down, and the state of the economy was evident by the number of 'rooms available,' the reasonable price of gas, and motorcycle parking down from $5 last year to $4 this year."
Not surprisingly, the local police are out in full force for the event, but that fact does seem lost on some.
"As you approach Daytona Beach from just about any direction, you may well be as amazed as I was to see the number of motorcycles pulled over by the police. I have never been accused of being the 'sharpest tack in the drawer,' but it’s unclear to me why a person with apparently enough brain power to move most of their body parts would consciously drive carelessly in an area with a 'bazillion' additional police officers on duty."
For the first time visitor Friggs has this advice.
"If you are there for just a few hours or a day, I recommend staying around Main Street and the Ocean Center. There is a lot within walking distance and if you are a people watcher there are plenty to watch . . . even on a cold day. Although I doubt Bike Week holds any records for bars per capita, I would be surprised if someone said they could not find their preferred alcoholic beverage. And although the street vendor food won’t win any awards, there are restaurants of adequate quality competing for your hard earned dollars. You can park on Main Street free, but for that you had better plan to get there early."
A picture says a thousand words, however, so Friggs is a lot more verbose here in the slideshow.

Great pictures from your friend Friggs. I did notice in the slideshow that most everyone was in full gear; nothing like cold weather to increase the use of leathers and helmets.
Patty,
Full gear was the first thing I noticed too - can't accuse anyone of immodesty when it's this cold. Ha - great pictures though and Im sure everyone had a great time.
I live in Cocoa Bch Fl,and i wear my gear all year round, because being safe shouldnt matter on the weather, although the weather was beautiful the last few days,a little chilly on the ride back home .
