Music is an essential part of every child's life. While formal instruction isn't necessary in order to incorporate music into your child's life, it can be extremely beneficial. Tallahassee is blessed with an abundance of good music schools and well-trained instructors. Here are just a few options for training in musical instruments or voice:
Boys Choir of Tallahassee
A community outreach program for males, ages eight to eighteen, enrolled in schools throughout the Tallahassee area. Goal is to foster academic excellence, build character and self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills, and help young men realize their fullest potential while acquiring life skills. (850)528-2403.
Bradfordville Arts Academy
A community ministry of the Bradfordville Baptist Church(at 6494 Thomasville Road). Offers individual lessons in piano, guitar, violin and voice from September through May. Recitals performed twice a year. (850) 205-1821.
The Arts at Good Samaritan
Now enrolling for its summer session, the Arts at Good Samaritan is the outreach ministry of Good Samaritan United Methodist Church on Capital Circle SE. Kindermusik offered for birth through age 7. Individual instruction in voice, guitar, drums, and piano beginning at age four. (850) 325-6753.
Mason's School of Music

Performing Arts Center of Tallahassee
Offers a variety of music classes, including Musikgarten, which serves children as young as newborn. Piano, guitar and voice are among the classes. Two concerts per year. (850) 562-1430.
Stubbs Music
40-year-old institution in Tallahassee, Stubbs music provides voice and instrument instruction and has been recognized by Kindermusik International as one of the top 125 Kindermusik programs in the world. Has an extensive summer camp program and a variety of ensemble groups with which kids can perform. (850) 893-8754.

Thomasville Road Academy of the Arts
A ministry of Thomasville Road Baptist Church, the Academy offers private lessons in piano, guitar, voice, strings, woodwinds, brass, and more. Schedule runs in the afternoon and evenings, Monday through Thursday. 422-7795, ext. 210.
