Some days, it's hard for a busy mom to find time to exercise. Well, actually, some days it's hard for a mom to find time to brush her hair. But we need to do it for our physical and mental health –as much as because we want to fit into those skinny jeans again.
We have to get creative and committed, but the time is there. Of course, if you're a single mom working multiple jobs, I am not even going to presume to give you advice, because in my book, you are a saint, and as such, should be blessed with a miraculously fit body whether you exercise or not.
For the rest of us, though, here are a few ideas:
Exercise with your kids.
Obesity is an epidemic and it's not just a problem for those approaching middle age with slowing metabolisms. Studies have proven that the best way parents can prevent obesity in their kids is to lead by example: walk together, play a sport, dance, take a parent-child yoga class or buy an exercise video that incorporates your kids. And if your kids are exercising with you, you know for a fact that they aren't drawing on the walls or trying to start the car.
Find a gym or exercise class with child care.
When you have smaller children, you're probably not going to pumping iron alongside them. However, some local gyms cater to moms and provide child care either free or for a nominal charge. Gold's Gym, Women's World, Premier Health and Fitness, and Impact Health and Fitness are a few of the local Tallahassee gyms with child care available.
