Some baby bath products carcinogenic and where to find organic baby products

 Are baby products safe?

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics recently tested 48 baby products, including baby shampoo, baby wash and baby lotions for harmful chemicals, including formaldehyde, which, according to the report, can trigger allergic reactions and are unsafe for our environment.

According to Liz Szabo of USA Today, even baby products from stores such as Whole Foods, contain environmentally harmful chemicals, enough to have formaldehyde baby products banned in Japan and Sweden.

Avoid carcinogenic baby products

Be sure to check the list of tested baby products. Szabo recommends that consumers stay away from formaldehyde or 1,4-dioxane.

Organic baby products

There are a variety of options for all-natural baby products including:

  • California Baby: California Baby offers a variety of all-natural products. Go for the unscented to avoid any allergy issues. Also, to save a bit of money, buy in bulk.
  • Earth Mama/Angel Baby Organics: Earth Mama offers a promise to all parents that their products are all natural and baby safe. Be sure to check out their labor and postpartum products.
  • Local Maternity Stores/Boutiques: Albuquerque has a number of great maternity boutiques and speciality stores that carry a variety of natural and organic baby products.
  • Consider going homemade: Nowadays, you can find natural and organic products to make your own soaps, shampoos and event baby wipes. Check out The Daily Green for recipes and tips.
