Called up last week to step in on a depleted Canadiens roster, J.T. Wyman was returned to the team’s AHL affiliate in Hamilton Sunday after three games with Montreal.
He didn’t play much against the three opponents he faced, with 5:59 marking his highest ice time total, against the Penguins in Pittsburgh.
And while Wyman might be disappointed to be returning to the Bulldogs – where he had nine points in 19 contests at the time of his call-up – his reassignment can only mean good news for the Canadiens and their fans.
After all, a body leaving likely means a body is ready to return and one would have to think it would be Scott Gomez. In a taped message aired on RDS during Saturday night’s tilt against Washington, the Habs centre said – in French – that he hopes to be back on Tuesday.
If Gomez isn’t ready, another option is Matt D’Agostini, who skated with his teammates for the first time since being knocked out on Oct. 30 in Chicago, or even likely longshot Andrei Kostitsyn, who apparently is still being considered as day-to-day.
